Cape Town & Okavango Escape

City, coast and mountain first, then water and wilderness. A journey that changes register completely halfway through.

Cape Town is an easy, generous start: the peninsula, the Winelands and good food, all within an hour of the hotel. Botswana then takes the trip somewhere else entirely — shallow channels, island walking and camps reached by small aircraft. The flight from Cape Town to Maun is the hinge.

Journeys on this route

Each can run on its own, or be joined into the full combination above.

Before you decide

  • Botswana camps are small and book out far ahead in the dry season.
  • Light-aircraft luggage is strictly limited; soft bags only.
  • Cape Town weather changes quickly — build a flexible day into the schedule.

Questions about this combination

Can we add the Winelands?

Yes. Two nights in the Winelands usually means one less in Cape Town, which most travellers accept happily.

Is the Delta good for families?

Some camps take children from six or seven; walking and mokoro activities have age conditions we check before proposing.

Do we need malaria tablets?

The Delta is a malaria area. Speak to a travel clinic about prophylaxis for your dates and route.
